Living here in Holland, I have been challenged by some of the obvious stereotypes of Dutch culture. It did not take me long to shed the idea that everyone walks around in wooden shoes! And I could go on this path with more examples.
The only generalisation that is really true is that generalisations hurt.
Living here as an ex-pat, I come in regular contact with strange ideas with regard to my own culture especially talking about food.
