My name is Donatella, I’m Italian and I love to cook ! I have not always been a professional cook, my educational background is completely different. I have studied Economics and I have always worked in administrative areas. But a passion is a passion and cooking is one of mine! This passion for cooking was something I first learned from my grandmother and from my parents. Growing up in an Italian family, I was immersed in the joy and warmth of the kitchen and experimentation with food and cooking was not only encouraged, it was simply a part of our life. Colors, shapes and textures, as well as the delicious smells from food preparation were just a part of our everyday experience. So I started to cook for my family, for my friends, and frequently was invited to cook in the homes of acquaintances as a “guest cook”.
Speaking of passion, I fell in love with a Dutch man and that’s why I’m in the Netherlands! He always encouraged me to pursue my goals. When we got married my darling asked me: “Why not do what you really want?”. I realized that what I really wanted was to cook! I’m the happiest planning and making meals. I like to go shopping at the market to provide all the fresh ingredients and the original Italian products. Indeed good ingredients are as basic to the preparation of a good meal as the passion and skill of the cook.
I do believe that in cooking, as in anything, you must first please yourself to please others that’s why I use to say that my first qualification is as an eater!
